Why?
In a world that often prioritises individualism and digital connections, our team at Tigers wanted to bring people together for an in-person event. Our aim was to create a space where people could connect, share stories, and foster relationships, reminiscent of the local cultures seen in many UK cities during the 1960s and 70s. During that era, “the old tenement closes” served as vital social hubs where residents came together, shared often limited resources, off loaded life’s challenges and built lasting friendships. These spaces were not just physical locations; they were symbols of solidarity and support, offering a sense of belonging that many of us yearn for today.
By referencing the “closes” of the past, we aim to inspire a revival of those communal bonds, reminding us that we are stronger together. It’s a call to action to nurture the spaces where we can gather, share, and grow, ultimately creating a more connected and compassionate society.
Through the close community, we hope to spark conversations and relationships that will enrich our lives and help us navigate the complexities of modern existence with a sense of togetherness and belonging.

Experiences
We want to make Scotland the best place for our children to grow up!
The close community presents events and experiences of love and connection, with inspirational speakers who will interweave the science of connection through storytelling and their professional experience, offering you invaluable insight and provoking your curiosity.
We hope you leave our experiences feeling curious, courageous, and inspired to place the Attachment needs of our children and young people at the heart of your practice and relationships. We hope that by sharing the knowledge of the biological impact of relationships we increase our capacities to ‘Get it Right’ for every child in Scotland, and wider.

2023
Our first close community event was an inspiring day, bringing together educators, professionals and advocates dedicated to fostering love and connection in interactions with children and young people.
This unique experience, putting guests at the centre. We created a space that was reminiscent of a Glasgow close, familiar to many. With china teacups, washing on the line and music of the time playing in the background.
“I will always make sure that we are banging the drum, that we don’t forget the importance of bringing people together, like we have today, and connecting over a shared goal. The most important thing that underlines that everything is relationships.”

2024
Bringing the close community together for the second time was a another special day as we looked deeper into ‘The Impact of Love in the Developing Brain’.
With so many members of the early years community joining us, we took this as an opportunity to celebrate them, with the glamorous Radisson Blu in Glasgow City Centre the venue. We were proud to offer our delegate bags as gift bags with sweet treats and other goodies inside.
“quote to go here.”
