Leadership in care services is deeply human. It is built on relationships, trust and the everyday decisions that shape a service’s culture.

Today, leadership extends far beyond managing rotas or maintaining policies. Managers in Early Learning and Childcare and Residential Care are responsible for safeguarding culture, developing their workforce, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing risk and driving continuous improvement while delivering positive outcomes for the people they support.

Although the environments differ, the leadership responsibilities are strikingly similar. Both sectors require emotional intelligence, ethical judgement and the ability to lead with clarity and consistency.

Care Services Leadership and Management at SCQF Level 10 reflects this reality. Designed for managers across Early Learning and Childcare and Residential Care, it focuses on leadership demonstrated in real practice, in real time.

This fully work-based qualification is completed within your own service and supported by an experienced, occupationally competent assessor. While achieved through a vocational route, it sits at SCQF Level 10 the same level as a bachelor’s degree with Honours in Scotland. This recognises advanced professional judgement, strategic responsibility and high-level leadership capability.

For managers already operating at this level, the qualification is not about adding theory to an already significant role. It is about formally recognising the level at which you already lead and strengthening your confidence in doing so.

In a sector where leadership directly shapes outcomes, investing in your development at SCQF Level 10 is an investment in the future of you and your service.
